Today we really explored the town and visited the third Army base. Nothing too exciting at the third base, it was the air field one so it was just really big. After that we drove into downtown Wiesbaden, which is like 5 minutes from our hotel.
You may have seen my post earlier on parking, well after that it took another 15 minutes....so a total of 45 minutes to park! Yes, we could have pulled into a parking garage but Rocky thought we were going to get stuck in it. Soooo, I eventually fell asleep with Savannah and when Rocky said we had parked, I woke up and asked if we were even still in Germany.
Now that we parked, the real adventure began. We found a restaurant that looked really good so we go in....through the turning door (can't think of the real name) we go with our stroller, inching our way around through the door. It was funny but embarassing! Once in the restaurant we realize we're in over our heads and then go to McDonalds. While in line at McD's we realize this is silly let's embrace the culture and eat at the restaurant. So we head back, through the turning door..again...inch by inch around the door...still embarassing. Now that we're back at the restaurant we realize it's a dessert only restaurant soooo we decide to get a piece of pie and a valentines day cookie. By this point of the day it's 3pm and we hadn't eaten. When we left the restaurant we ate the cookie as we looked for another place to eat. That cookie everyone, was the BEST cookie I have ever had!!! It was a sugar cookie wrapped in chocolate I think. Later we figured out we paid $12 American dollars for that small cookie...but well worth it for sure.
We ended up eating at this restaurant that we thought was going to be good. Half way through Savannah was over it and so were we, the food wasn't that good and it was over priced.
A few things I wanted to mention about Germany.
Water is served with with gas or no gas....meaning sparkling or still water. It's funny to hear the waiter say "Gas or no Gas" hehe
Gratuitiy IS included in the check at restuarants, at dinner last night the waitress told us it wasn't but later we figured out that it was.
The streets in the city are small but the highways are like they are at home.
Savannah is now asleep and we are about to watch our featured film for the evening, The Social Network. We all are mostly well just a few sniffles and coughs from traveling I guess. Hopefully they will go away when we are fully adjusted to the time change.
LOVE YOU!
